向大師致敬

由紙躍入石,筌美術將藝術家陳庭詩的現代抽象版畫,結合台灣石材衍生設計為生活擺件。其版畫有著甘蔗板營造出獨一無二崩裂效果,筌美術將這種崩裂紋路連結至大理石自然紋理,轉化石材傳統「銑孔」技法為設計元素,將版畫色塊延伸成立體方圓,並透過不同尺寸之銑孔及圓弧分割的規劃,將被視於餘料之圓柱再次運用,設計出一系列作品,搭配幾何鏤空金屬配件,平面版畫一躍而成花器、置物盒、飾品架,展現塊面視覺的空間推移。

From paper to stone, Gallery Chuan has used Hualien marble to transform the iconic artworks of CHEN Ting-Shih into artistic home accessories. Because of the usage of cane dregs, the prints feature unique cracking effect. Gallery Chuan has linked this unique cracking with the natural pattern of marble. Through the different size of milling and drilling on marble, the color block of print has extent to sculptural object. The works are redesigned as vase, mini storage box, and accessories stand. 由紙躍入石,筌美術將藝術家陳庭詩的現代抽象版畫,結合台灣石材衍生設計為生活擺件。《晝與夜#10》為陳庭詩以色彩塊面表現出太陽明暗照射的變化,予人時間更替遷移的感悟,設計師透過傳統的「銑孔」技法,將《夢在冰河》方形花瓶製作時所切下的中間圓柱部分轉化設計為《晝與夜#10》立體花器。隨著光線照射角度的不同,在孔洞之間可感受到光影的延伸,由塊面視覺空間的推移巧妙的締造時間的律動感。作為花器,斜面上所插的花草,在成為作品一部分的同時,也跳脫出原始版畫的框架。

From paper to stone, Gallery Chuan has used Hualien marble to transform the iconic artworks of CHEN Ting-Shih into artistic home accessories. The original print “Day & Night #10”, is a description of daytime and nighttime, that shows the change from light to dark also drives the rhythms of life. Through milling and drilling, the designer has transformed the rest part of “Dreaming in the Glacier #3 - Vase” into another vase. With the light form different angle, the shadow shifts among the holes, creating a sense of passage of time. As a vase, the plants here can be seems as a part of work, but also as beyond the original frame of print.

As an important artist for the evolution of Taiwanese modern art, CHEN Ting-Shih use the plate of cane dregs to create the prints with unique cracking effect. Gallery Chuan has linked this unique cracking with the natural pattern of Hualien marble. Through milling and drilling on marble, the color block of print has extent to sculptural object. Adorning with engraving stainless steel, the work “Dreaming in the Glacier #3” has been redesigned as vase and accessories stand. This works present Chen’s creation in symbolization of Eastern philosophy and the Universe.

在獲得了一九七〇年獲得韓國版畫雙年展首獎後,陳庭詩使用了許多圓形、半圓形、月形的排列組合,來探討著宇宙星河的奧秘,如《繁星的對稱#2》此幅作品。我們將對稱擴展,運用花蓮所產的蛇紋岩,由平面版畫色塊推置而成立體物件,在對稱的繁星孔洞中可以插入放置筆,中間的凹槽也很適合收納迴紋針等文具小物;放置於桌上,就像是我們凝視作品中星空天宇,遙想無邊自由之境時,和世間土地的生活仍緊密相扣相連。

After receiving the first prize at the First International Biennial Exhibition of Prints in Korea in 1970, CHEN Ting-Shih used many combination of round, semicircle and lunar shape to discover the Universe. “Stellar Symmetry #2” is one of these works. Gallery Chuan have extended this symmetry with Hualien serpentine, that the print has been transformed into sculptural object. You may put the pens or pencils between the holes of star, while some stationery, such as paper clips, can be stored in the groove. Putting on the table, this work connects the stars in the print and our lives on earth.

陳庭詩 Ting-Shih Chen(1913-2002)

陳庭詩為台灣現代藝術發展先趨代表性人物,以甘蔗板創作的抽象版畫,翻新了木刻版畫技法,東方又現代;將生命傾注於焊鐵雕塑,開啟了台灣雕塑的鐵器時代。一九七〇年獲得韓國版畫雙年展首獎,一九九九年受邀參加在西班牙、法國巡展的「二十世紀金屬雕刻家大展」,與塞薩、畢卡索等同堂發表。法國藝術史家路易費里爾所編《Art of the 20th Century》鉅著中,陳庭詩與貝聿銘為唯二被收錄之華裔創作者,於世界藝術史上地位深獲國際肯定。

As an important artist for the evolution of Taiwanese modern art, from prints to metal sculptures, CHEN’s use of varied media reflects the changes in society. In 1970, he received the first prize at the First International Biennial Exhibition of Prints in Korea. In 1999, his works were in a touring ex-hibition in Spain and France with Picasso. He was discovered by French art historian and written in the book "20th Century Art". 
There were only two Asian artists in the book, the other being Ieoh Ming Pei. This goes to show that Chen is recognized and admired in the history of art.
